I knew I wasn't the only one, but I was surprised by this post from Diaspora contributor Fla:Wow, +1200 active users on joindiaspora.com and almost as many on diasp.org in only five days. These two pods have registration closed, so this is really old users coming back. Well, I think we can say thanks to #ello to allow bloggers and journalists to talk about #diaspora again. I hope these users coming back will appreciate the improvements since the last time they connected and stay with us!I'm glad that Ello is here and getting attention. Venture capital investment doesn't bother me as much as it bothers some other folks. Then again, my wife and I high-fived each other the first time we heard Modest Mouse being used for a beer commercial. Folks gotta eat. We celebrate when folks that we like get to eat well.Still - I'm happier that the attention Ello received is spreading out to other alternate social networking systems. There isn't just one alternative to Facebook / Twitter / Google+. We have more options than locking ourselves away in one least-hated walled garden. Here is a nice Diaspora introduction if you are curious to learn more about Diaspora.
