Ok this is what I want to share today....
Here's a question I keep getting asked and that question is "what's your favourite record 45 or album?"
Jesus Christmas that's a difficult one to answer....tell you what I'll do,I will tell you an album that changed my life.
When I was a young lad my late sister Mary played me Bob Dylan "Bringing it all back home" wow the lyrics were wild real Lower East Side Nyc Beat Poetry.
I was already crazy into mid 60s Tamla Motown and British Beat groups but this was different.
Through this album I began to read and discover Kerouac and Salinger it really opened up the arts world to me.
I discovered Andy Warhol and his Superstars, saw Pop Art in Galleries in London.
Yes thanks to my groovy Sister I really started to grow musically.
I won't waffle on about individual tracks on the album because you're probably glaze over lol....if you don't know this album play it!!!!
Now for a 45 that changed my life too...
Its just got to be "Let's Spend The Night Together" by The Rolling Stones and for one abiding reason......Brian Jones.
I already idolised Brian but seeing him on Top of The Pops in his Edwardian Dandy clothes with an amazing hat he looked like a God to me....I was just a lad but I never forgot that moment.
It was only 3 minutes of time but time stood still he was everything I wanted to be.
So I had the "Royal Ruler" DJ Tony Prince playing my Tamla faves and Stones tunes on Pirate Radio out of the North Sea....life was good, all things seemed within reach.
Music and art were always there always calling me always inspiring me,yeah thanks Mary you lit a fire under me with that Poet from NYC.
