Bryan Talks Bond Trading Card 02: Geoffrey Holder as Baron Samedi
I was born in 85, so you might think my first Bond movie would be Goldeneye. Strangely, the first Bond movie I ever watched was Live and Let Die. My dad rented it for me under the assumption that all Roger Moore Bond films are more kid-friendly. Watching the end of the film and seeing Baron Samedi sitting on the front of the train laughing blew my mind as a kid. I remember thinking that the next movie must be about Bond chasing down Samedi. The character made such an impact on me, probably due to the dynamic performance by dancer and choreographer Geoffrey Holder. I found his character genuinely creepy as a kid, and as an adult, I love the performance as a throwback to pulp adventures. In another Bond movie, he might be too much, but I think he matches the tone of Live andLet Die perfectly.
