ELLO PRIDE DAY REDUX
An interesting thing happened yesterday.
Ello lost a few thousand users in protest over our support for the LGBTQ community this month.
Ello is, and will always be, a place where we respect free speech and conflicting points of view. You can be who you want here, and post what you want on Ello — as long as you conform to our Rules, which only forbid a few truly nasty things like directly inciting or ecouraging harm or violence to others.
So if you don't like Ello's support for certain causes, or anything else we do, you're welcome to post that here, and we will always treat you with respect.
That said, we at Ello believe that full rights and respect for the LGBTQ community is a constitutional civil rights issue in the USA, akin to the Civil Rights Movement that erupted here in in the 1960's. This includes the rights of gay and transgender members of society to get married, have families, keep their jobs, and live with dignity without having to live in fear or hide their true identities.
So while you can post whatever you like on Ello, and we support you doing so, this company clearly has a point of view. You are welcome to disagree with it, on and off Ello. We support that too. Respect needs to go both ways.
Ello will continue to support full rights and protections for LGBTQ members of society as part of company policy.
