A study in Macro
I have to start thinking like a photographer. Eh, continue thinking like a photographer? Eh, basically, I learned something yesterday. I take the children that I nanny to the same park every day and man oh man I'm tired of looking at it. I take my camera there every day and I rarely "see" things I want to photograph. After you have visited the same place 100 times, not exaggerating, it can become mundane and it becomes difficult to "see" anything. Your brain thinks you've seen it all.
I reached into my backpack, pulled out my camera bag, dug around for my camera and felt a pouch that I keep a macro attachment lens in. I pulled it out and looked up. I spotted this.
We are getting some buds on bushes but nothing is bigger than an inch. So what does that mean? Macro practice time!
Now, I started with the macro setting on my camera but that was awful with a capital awf. Namely, couldn't pick my focus point... Went back to manual. Didn't have to change too many settings, tried to slow down shutter pseed for light but I found that I like the darker images better, plus it was getting blurry. Speaking of blur...
Another interesting thing. I was practically laying in this bush. My kit lens was zoomed all the way out. When I got to a certain distance physically, the blur was insane and it would not focus. My camera wouldn't even take the picture. So I had to stay back. Thought that was weird... Anyone experience that? I blame it on the macro adapter lens thingy I had on the lens, but I didn't try to take any pictures without it. I had kids badgering me by this time.
AND GIANT NON THREATENING MOSQUITO'S!
This dude was like, "Take my picture!" So I did. He was a perfect model.
So, I still owe my bucket list, I'll "finish" it today and post tomorrow.
One last thing I want to share.
I have 11 days off starting this Friday. I'm going to be BROKE. But, I'm going to use the time to do a serious photo safari. There are so many places I have never even taken my camera, even in my own city. We have mountains I can climb, dog parks I can avoid the crap in, human parks with fake lakes and ducks. All in my city. I am also going to take a few days to go out of my city because I want to go to the airport and get a magazine. Yeah, I said it. That is the only place I can get a decent magazine. Can't find one magazine about photography ANYWHERE in my city. And I likes my magazines in print...
