Remember when there were only words?
Words on paper, words on the screen,
looking back at you
Speaking decibels louder than any song on free FM radio
Pulsing more frantically than some awful dot GIF
without the repetitious attempts to visually assault your eyes.
Scribbled at an angle across paper scraps - a rush requiring no image.
Horizontally scripted, calmness and care across the line.
Ink splatters, water smudges, varying weights,
Emotions and tears captured in time.
Forgotten in the background
Cluttered by irrelevant ads and trolling eyes
Searches are for Sunday papers.
Must we send out a rescue party for our lost words?
