After more than six years spent primarily in front of the camera as a model, I decided to shift focus to photography and self-portraiture. My artistic aspiration is to explore versatility in photographic themes, evoking emotion and challenging my audience's views of the world. Using rope, light and flesh as my mediums of choice, I explore idealogical constructs such as power, romance, gender, vulnerability, and suffering; ultimately shattering them and building something completely new from the pieces.
In this series, I sought to create something that would remind people of renaissance or baroque oil paintings.. I hoped to possibly even confuse the viewer if the photos are in fact paintings or not. As a female-bodied creator, I often strive to impress upon people that nudity doesn't always equate to sex. I felt that message strongly in these photographs, as I am fully nude yet completely not sexualized. Instead I am vulnerable yet powerful in my presence.
