Well. This is fascinating and terrifying.
What It’s Like to Date Your Dad
I hate being a conventional square, but... No.
I'm stuck on this part:
"When you are 18 you know what you want. You’re an adult under the law and you’re able to consent."
Yeah, no. Eighteen year olds don't know shit. They think they do, it really feels like they do, but they really don't. The gap between being 18 and being, say, 21, is huge.
And even more problematic: I'm not sure you can ever really consent in that situation. There are so many powerful drives and instincts in play, that a free consent may not even be possible. They talk about the genetic impulse being so strong -- how can one know it's an exercise of their free will instead of that genetic impulse?
As for the biological possibilities, I have no idea. She's probably right.
Nevertheless, this screams out Baaaaaaaaaaaaad Idea, not the least bit because she had such a shitty upbringing, she has enough to deal with, and doesn't need this dramz on top of it. I can easily see why she grabbed onto the first seemingly-positive person to come through her life. (But he's a mess as well, and has much more responsibility in this than she does.)
Fascinating read, though.
