So last night I bought the audiobook of Kim Gordon's memoirs. That should be good listening on the plane, in the gym, whatever.
I also bought the audiobook of Tim Milne's memoirs, about Kim Philby.
Kim Philby has long been a subject of fascination for me, and this should be a good read.
Honestly, though, I thought I was buying another book, this one:
Great reviews for that one, and it was that book making the rounds on CBC that revived my interest. But -- I goofed, and bought the other one.
Or was it a goof? My book was written by Tim Milne, who knew Kim. Tim wrote his memoirs, and they were immediately banned, only to be released four years after his death at age 97. Getting better...
And it turns out that Tim Milne was the nephew of fucking A.A. Milne, author of the Winnie the Pooh books! Tim is Christopher Robin's cousin!
What a world. To go from the innocence of Pooh Corner to the greatest duplicity of the Cold War in one small step. Amazing.
So I'll be reading memoirs of two Kims, then. Huh.
