So I am looking at Viking River Cruises, which other than my trip on the Boat, is something I've also always wanted to do. I was looking to see what the schedule is like around next Christmas, to see if there's another option for doing a trip to Holland next year.
Turns out that Viking is out of my price range, so it won't happen.
But -- BUT -- the trip on the Rhine, from Amsterdam to Basel, is quite interesting. Amsterdam, check. Kinderdijk, check. Koln, check. Done 'em. But not on a boat. Then the boat goes through the Black Forest where they have an excursion to -- wait for it, wait for it -- a cuckoo clock factory. You can watch cuckoo clocks be made.
As a self-taught cuckoo tinkerer, this is pretty exciting. I may have set a new Life Goal. Machu Picchu, Hua Shan, and now this.
It'd be amazing to see a cuckoo clock that 100% works.
[Unfortunately, it looks like Hua Shan's insane cliff face trail of chain-and-planks is now off limits, because of the obvious danger. THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT, CHINA.)
