More goodness from my Ward 3, where 15 (count 'em, 15!) candidates are looking to fill the seat of the late Bernie Morelli.
Ward 3 candidate threatens legal action over gender equality tweet
The more I learn about Matthew Green, the more I like him. That he a) calls out sexist comments is great, but b) he's handling this professionally, which is also great.
I don't necessarily agree with him 100% on his platform, but he's a young guy, wand City Hall sorely needs a generational shift, and going over his platform and answers, he's certainly the best prepared of any of the candidates. Also, he was working on his campaign well before Bernie died (and the less said about him, the better), so he's not an obvious opportunist like the others. Less obvious, sure. But he's got his shit together, and is smart and young, more or less the Jane Jacobs approach to everything, and what else am I looking for?
Mind you, with 15 candidates, the margin for victory is going to be very small, and with a tiny portion of the popular vote. I have been seeing a lot of support for Green in my part of town (and Simmons? the hell?), but in the north end, it's Agostino. It's hard to break up that Italian vote, which is why Bernie Morelli, incompetent, corrupt, lying hack Bernie Morelli, could be reelected again and again and again.
(And Warren Francis saying he often feels discriminated against as a man? Bitch, please.)
(AND ANOTHER THING -- telling a woman to 'sit down and let him talk', or 'sit down and shut up' -- what's the difference? SERIOUSLY. The language difference is irrelevant. A woman was asking questions about gender equality, was being dismissed by the candidates, and telling her to sit down was being just as dismissive of her concerns. One phrase rather than the other is no better -- the point is that you were blowing off her concerns, and ENTIRELY PROVING HER POINT. Jesus.)
