I need to replace my necklace. I lost it last week somewhere between my house and Toronto.
I've been wearing it since First Communion, so 35 years ago? 34. A long time. I only ever took it off for surgery. Even on x-rays, I have this silver ring floating around my vertebrae. It's a part of me, and I feel totally naked without it. Even now, I'm clawing at my neck to feel that it's not there. 34 years is a long, long time, after all.
Anyway, I need to think about replacement. I've been toying with the idea of something New York. I looked at their subway token pendants, but... $112? Atsa spicy meatball. The key ring ones are $50, but only silver plated, not sterling.
Then I found this:
I think we have a winner.
It's not my Boat, but its predecessor. Nevertheless. I need it, and I need to christen it by taking it on my Boat. (It's stamped 'QUEEN MARY' on the other side, as if the pennant wasn't clear enough.)
This needs to happen.
The QE2 is closer, but -- it's the masts and pennant that make the old one.
