This teevee show is tiiiiiiiiiiiiight. The acting is superb, the writing is superb, and it is so, so dense and layered.
Over the three seasons, there's what, a dozen episodes altogether? I suspect (without having watched the American one) that the brevity is a plus here. It's bam-bam-bam, not a moment wasted, moving very fast. This is teevee that demands your attention.
And it is such dry humour. No-one can do that like the Brits.
So while I'm open to watching the American one, I expect that once I'm done this, that I'll be burnt out. And having seen (and suffered) so many American adaptations of British shows, the trend is for lesser quality. Now, the USAian HOC gets very good reviews, but honestly -- how to possibly top this?
Plus, as a practical matter, I understand the British political system far better than the American one, so this seems like a better fit for me.
But damn is this good...
