So this weekend's plan is to do the last work on the porch railing, being painting. Six coats in total -- two green on top, then two white in the middle, and two green on the bottom. They have to be done in order because of drippage.
This front porch work has been going on since before May 2-4. It will be wrapped up on Thanksgiving. This has taken up, quite literally, my entire summer.
The weather is looking OK, but a touch on the cool side. Any cooler, and it's too cold to paint. As it is, I know I'm shortening the life of the paint job, but I'm certainly not going to leave it like that through the winter, and finish this summer's job in the spring.
Holiday Monday is looking rainy. So, I thought I would go do something to do. Sis is off with hers to the inlaws, and Mom wanted Chinese or something. Fine. So I made a tentative plan to go antiquing in St Jacobs, and then dinner here in town, at the Mandarin or something. Or maybe even the Bread Bar, if I could talk her into it.
But then it started raining yesterday.
There's a leak in Mom's house. Not every time, but when there's enough of it, it comes from direction X, and there are leaves in the gutters. But now Mom has something to work herself up about, and she (of course) grabs ahold of it with both hands.
Now Sis is NOT going to the inlaws, but is bringing her family down so her husband can work on the leak (in the rain). Which means I need to be there, too. Which means I don't get to do something fun (even with Mom in tow), but I get to be doing more housework.
