I have nothing to wear. I have no shoes to wear, either. All my crap is old.
All the more reason to buy all new stuff when I'm there, but in the meantime, I look like crap.
It's a direct result of wearing a suit to work. I have no decent clothes. If I'm not in my suit, I'm in jeans casual, or work clothes. If I have an occasion like a dinner or a wedding, I'm in my suit. As such, there's a distinct hole in my wardrobe, being proper clothes that's not a suit, but is more than jeans casual.
I had to go searching for a pair of black pants to pack. And what I have to go with those black pants? More black. Chino season is passed as well, so those are out.
It's a bit of a problem. I would like to do an upscale dinner, but they still have to be clothes that I can walk around all day in. And on that -- I've got nuthin'.
Shoes are another problem. My knee is busted, and I've got flat feet. There is a very small range of shoes that are actually good for me over a long period of time. My Blundstones are giving out, in that they are now worn, and making my good knee overcompensate -- my good knee is worse than my bad knee. My Clarks are fine, but I have no idea if I can spend all day on them or not -- I doubt it. The new GBX are doubtful. I always have my beloved Chucks, but walking shoes? Not as much as they were in years past.
I have a big shopping list put together for Uniqlo when I get there. Not the least of which is for underwear. Between basics like that and a coat, a jacket, and a sweater or two, I'm looking at a few hundred bucks.
And most of it I won't need until next year's trip...
