So today I had to present the board's request to the city for their annual operating budget.
The city told us to be there for 9:30. I told work that I would be late coming in.
And how. The city had the police services board go before us, which is a monster budget, and sure to take a lot of time. Then it was wrapping up at 11:30, I'm already feeling the heat for being THAT late at work, and then... The police did a second budget -- their capital request budget after their operating budget.
We didn't get up until 2:30. Yay. By then, I was feeling pretty shifty, wanting to get the hell out of there before my boss exploded.
I presented the budget, all fine, and get back to work. I immediately went to my boss' office to apologize for being obscenely late, and... He didn't notice that I wasn't in yet.
So I groveled for nothing.
Fantastic. Just fantastic all round.
Add to that the unnecessary DRAMZ of our chair losing her purse somewhere, thinking it was stolen, and having to bail on our presentation. Of course, it turned out that she left it on a bench, it was turned in, and hadn't made its way to lost and found yet by the time our chair noticed it was missing.
More stress. Yay.
But everyone loves us and will give us our money and I need a drink now.
