Just ordered a couple of trees through the JNF to be planted for Cort. I never know what to say with these things. Yes, it's a life for a life sort of deal, and that's a nice idea, but maybe someone takes that as the idea of a trade-in, which isn't as nice? Who knows?
And since they're trees in Israel, there could always be a political overtone too, and who knows how that goes over?
But -- as far as I'm concerned, they're trees. The trees themselves aren't political. Trees are good. Trees from the desert are even better.
Whatever. I like doing it. I know how much the gesture meant to me when my Dad passed. Probably more than anything else at the time, really, just knowing that something was growing on in his place.
