So nothing happened to my house in the windstorm last night. Nothing. Am I ever surprised.
The house was literally shaking. Objects moving in my house which aren't supposed to be moving. Not good.
Of course, there's the giant crap maple out back which lost a huge limb in the LAST windstorm, and took out my back porch, which was no end of misery (which still hasn't ended, a year and a half later). Nothing happened from that one -- if the leaves were still on, it would have been a different story.
Not even the renter neighbours' crumbling chimney fell. Amazing. I always have a debate whether to leave my car out in the open, our tucked away in the sheltered driveway. The driveway seems like a better option, if you push it aaaaaaaall the way back, and guess on how far a falling brick will drift. (Of course, my car has been hit once already, the very first week I owned it. Ask me how I feel about my renter neighbours.)
Anyway, no damage to me. A huge fence in the neighbourhood is gone, but walking past it this morning, they didn't bother with putting fenceposts in the ground, and just nailed in fence sections to end posts, attaching each section to another, with nothing to secure it, making it one long section with nothing holding it. Even those end sections had, like, three nails holding it in. So, yeah. A crap job to begin with.
Still windy out there, though.
