He admired that timeless photograph that photography was not. Neither prophecy nor genealogy. But both of these. Through an error in the formula of eternity, he had given himself the greatest secret that humanity can conceive in favor of its own mortal form: the prospect of a warm wish. He had been master and prisoner of a confused life, now he had magically in his hand a plausible moment of the future, a second focal point that, together with the present, marked a ubiquitous projection of his being with divine clarity. The awareness of this extraordinary duality allowed us to overcome the natural logic contained in each individual, which pictures us - a priori - as carriers of both all the events that have taken place and those that will take place; in this way, it allowed the possibility of a real arbitrariness. The maximum sum of one's own mortal existence and one's ultimate opinion in perpetual human rethinking: that was in that photograph. It dissolved the mystery of life in the only solution granted to a life inevitably containing death: a single, inexhaustible and overwhelming love, which breaths in the very instant in which both its authors find eternal peace.
