Carina Gutierrez is a Los Angeles based artist and psychology graduate who depicts the importance of understanding the contributing factors of mental health through photography and film. By capturing the intimate and candid moments of the human experience, Carina’s vision seeks to arrest sincere moments of an individual’s life in a single frame, leaving room for interpretation on how experiences can impact the mental health and well being of the subject.
The Concert Series:
Sharing a common interest such as music can be an intimate look into a person’s life. Music no matter the genre shares and depicts different emotions, memories and experiences through sound, lyrics, and at times, relatability. Breaking down the idea of a concert will leave you with the underlying skeleton of "A community with a similar interest ”. Music can be seen as an outlet that brings people together. Expression, body language, and overall energy contribute a huge part to the music scene. People attend concerts for many different reasons. Intentions and feelings of reflection, discovery, occasion, newfound love, and sense of belonging can all be possibilities of what you may find at a concert. Rather than photographing the performing artist(s), I wanted to capture concertgoers in their purest carefree form to display a whole new sense of communal passion we tend to overlook. Although we may have a sense or look into what the artist(s) may have felt creating and performing a piece of music, it’s nice to take a look into what their audience feels listening to it.
