I am so excited to be a finalist for the $100K Archibald Prize with a portrait of my friend Faustina 🦄🌈🎉 Faustina Agolley is a Ghanaian-Chinese, openly queer actor, broadcaster, television producer, writer and DJ.
I was instantly drawn to Faustina because of the strength of her convictions and her appetite for knowledge and self-development. She’s overcome depression and anxiety stemming from trauma and homophobia to rebuild her life through her creative pursuits. I hope this portrait will be wife-bait for Faustina’s future partner, she’s single ladies!
The hype of Archibald Prize is hard to explain to those of you outside of Australia 🇦🇺 Exhibited annually at one of Australia’s most prestigious museums, the Archibald Prize is often referred to as the exhibition that stops a nation. Nearly everyone has an opinion about which portrait is most deserving of the $100,000 prize 🎉
For the month of May, I’ll be donating 10% of the sales from my original artwork to Black Rainbow, a non-profit focused on preventing Indigenous LGBQTI+ Suicide. They support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBQTI people who are homeless, leaving domestic violence relationships or the justice system.
