So I mentioned my thoughts/techniques when making this, now I’m gonna talk about the hand embroidery. I used some really messy stitching to secure the layers of threads applied to the sky and then made the cherubs’ wings using ‘goldwork’ techniques with a material called broad plate. These techniques have been around for hundreds of years (literally, it’s been like 1000) and were used mostly in religious and royal embroidery. Good examples in fashion today are Gucci and Dolce & Gabanna who use goldwork consistently in their collections . After that I used some French knots to do the hair and some @swarovski hotfix crystals for extra glitz. Looking back, I am not sure if it is silly to dedicate myself so much to something that is pretty much just ‘pretty’ but the process of sitting down and obsessively ‘making’ can be very empowering.
