I was in my 20s; I had just graduated from a BS program in nursing a couple of years before, and was exploring holistic nursing and healing work.
I was lying on a massage table, in the middle of a room full of other seekers, being a volunteer for our teacher (and later my mentor) Janet Mentgen, the founder of Healing Touch. She was walking me through an exercise.
"Think about a time when you have failed," she said.
I scrunched up my face. My mind was blank. I laughed. "I can't recall any time that I have failed," I replied.
"Then you haven't been living life properly," she said. "You haven't been reaching past your grasp."
