Well, it's been a week since I last posted anything. I've been working on the script for the Graphic Novel and it's almost done. Made the mistake of lettering the GN within Manga Studio 5 EX and now I'm paying for it. So I'm working up the script in Scrivener so I can export the script as a TXT file that I can import into Comic Life for some real lettering. Short version: although Manga Studio can "use" OpenType fonts, it doesn't make use of any OpenType features such as ligatures, kerning pairs and glyph substitution. If any one asks, I'd be happy to make a post and get all typographic-geek.
Once the script is done, I can send it off to my volunteer readers for feedback and proofreading. While I'm waiting for feedback, I can resume drawing the GN. Yea!
Here's the penciled and flat color version of the title page for the GN, since y'all have been so nice to read this far"
Hope it's enjoyable to look at, and if you've been following my posts, look carefully at the negative space between the ladies heads. Kinda... vase like, ain't it?
Although there's tons of nudity and explicit scenes in this GN, I wanted the title page to clearly show that it's a romance story at its core and to show that one can do sexy without showing boobs, distorting the figure to show buts and busts at the same time. It's like I'm trying to draw cartoon versions of ... real women. I think that Wendy's stroking Candi's neck really makes this picture.
One quote I made up this week, while working on the script is:
"Nobody’s Shakespeare when they’re having an orgasm."
