Is Monday gettin’ all up in your mix and making you feel sad and blue? Don’t worry Penelope - it’s #FunkMongerMonday ! Today’s funk comes all the way from #LosAngeles in the form of the legendary Jim Mahfood aka FoodOne.
Each week I talk about somebody who creates work that I love. Sometimes it’s a small name, sometimes it’s a big name, it doesn’t matter - all that matters is that the art makes me spill my Bojangles and throw my Laffy Taffy up the wall in excitement. Today I’m gonna be talking about Jim Mahfood, who is a massive name, and somebody that has been creating amazing work since way before I landed naked on Earth 24 years ago. Apart from having a wicked cool style that gets all up in your mix and pickles your feet, there is nothing I can say that hasn’t been said about Jim, so I’m gonna focus on my personal favourite project of his - #tankgirl . I’m a huge Tank Girl fan, and “Everybody loves Tank Girl” is my favourite non-Hewlett incarnation (though the competition is mega tough). Another of Jim’s projects that I was super psyched about was the mini #kickpuncher comic he illustrated for a DVD release of #community . It’s so wrangly it makes you wanna kickpunch all of the Snake Men and fly to Cairo to kickpunch more Snake Men. Don’t take my word for it though, stop kickpunching Snake Men go check him out right now like a fancy checkered trilby - he’s up to all kinds of funk!
