I love art supplies more than magpies love gambling. Just ask ‘em - it’s truer than a blue canoe! Every Sunday I’ll grab some stuff out of the art box and we’ll talk it out like Trisha.
In Today’s #StuffOnSunday I’m gonna be talking about this here #BristolBoard by Winsor & Newton. Now, I don’t care what I draw on - sometimes the gnarly scraps of paper that you find in a hedge turn into the best drawings. Saying that though, if I’m drawing up something clean to scan and colour digitally, then I’ll always use this. It’s smoother than the soft narration of Sir David Attenborough, and sturdier than a herd of blackbirds. It doesn’t prang out when I use #spraypaint which is useful, because some papers tend to warp unexpectedly and throw shapes everywhere. The only downside I can really think of is the price. It’s not second mortgage expensive, but you’re in danger of getting a bit precious by not wanting to ruin a single A3 sheet that costs the same as a loaf of bread. There’s a narrowboat load of good Bristol Board out there but I always tend to come back to this kind ‘cos it’s easy to get hold of and hasn’t let me down yet. You can also fold this paper into a really fancy hat - it’ll shelter you from white snow and yellow snow. That’s enough paper talk for now - stay tuned like a big fat tuna fish next week for more #StuffOnSunday !
