I recently saw Blade Runner at my local theater at one of those retro showings that are becoming more and more popular. These showings will get even better as quality transfers to 4k Blu Ray start going into production. You see, lot's of times the theaters don't have an actual print, but pay to show the Blu Ray. So although the quality is good, it's not what is could be.
Anyway, I had wanted an origami unicorn from the film for ages. I tried several times over the years to fold one. You can try for yourself. There are some pretty decent instructions here (even video instructions). But I guess I don't have the temperament for origami because I would get close, but my result was never quite right.
So I said screw it. I'm going to build one out of metal. A few design iterations later and, well, here's my version of the Blade Runner origami unicorn - aka Gaff's Unicorn.
Of course I got it 3D printed (you can see the print lines, which I sort of like). This copy was made in standard stainless steel.
If you've ever wanted one, you can get it from Andromeda Trade Collective in various materials - ranging from aluminum infused nylon (alumide) to sterling silver (pricey!).
