Free - the final orientation
Free. Started this painting just before having surgery to remove a melanoma from top of right foot. Due to skin graft from my thigh and ‘location’ - I had to stay on the couch (no walking - no shoes - no nothing) and literally lived on it for 3.5 months!
As soon as I could stand again I returned to it. In the beginning (prior surgery - didn’t look nothing like that) - but after - it’s my BFF @khyal who remarked that it looked like darkness (illness) being beaten.. (I am cancer free now). It was a ‘revelation’ of sort.
I have worked on it almost daily for about 8 months.. in the portrait orientation (tho I do turn large canvases to be able to paint out of reach areas). Only in the final stages did the pink river and scarf (ribbon) added (with no thoughts about its significance then).
