The Critical Reconstruction
As we wander through the tumult of architecture it is hard not to remember where we established ourselves; not as architects but as citizens with a regard to civility. As the world carries on in awe at the level of destruction and frightening forms of democracy the stones of our time as settled in Greece fall asunder. This is not a political choice but a responsible one to level architecture and our awareness at climate change that is blinding knowledge with science. If contemporary design has caught your attention then take a while to ask where it stems from; what are the precepts to good design, not good marketing where style offers the imagination the task of how new ground was broken. There is no fear in reclaiming the original rites in the making of architecture and its cities if it can be done imaginatively and without the interference of history. There is a job to be done and we need to restore a sense in our civil responsibilities as citizen architects that can assuage the difficulties of the economy to structure a new beginning with the New Beginning that made our culture expand to appreciate the horizon of intent.
