I got my cortisone/lidocaine injection in my back yesterday, but there was a change of plans from what I posted the other day. Instead of getting two shots via epidural, I was given one deep tissue injection. They want to see how I respond to this first, and then I may get the epidurals at a later time.
I’m currently in the “feeling worse than you did before the injection” phase. I’m so sore and feel beat up! But I’m happy to have had the injection done and I’m staying home today, so I’ll be okay. Luckily, the type of pain isn’t the super unbearable sharp or burning kind, so I got this. I can’t wait until the steroid flare goes away so I can see if the injection did anything.
For the first few hours, the lidocaine made me feel loopy and silly. I was waiting for my ride outside because I didn’t want to be in the crowded waiting room with children running around. When my friend arrived, she commented that it was really hot outside and wondered how I could prefer being outside to an air conditioned waiting room, even if it was crowded. And I didn’t really realize it was hot until she said so. Haha.
I brought one of those stress things to squeeze and I’m glad I did. That needle hurt when it got deep.
Lazy, restful recovery day today.
