These are both digital paintings that relate to the idea of community in opposite ways. I see community as the most essential and fundamental key to human survival. We cannot exist without some form of it. It is scalable, ranging from the micro (family and small groups of friends) to the macro (nations) and exists in overlapping and interlocking structures to form the matrix in which we live, work and play.
Relationships are in part built and strengthened by discourse, a powerful method of constructive communication that is characterized by the exchange of ideas. It's how we establish rapport, bridge divides, and work to solve social problems.
Fear is a popular and effective weapon, many times used by those in power to damage or destroy the connections between smaller communities to prevent them from building power of their own or overturning the status quo.
