The Fall Out: His Tenth
Walking up to the yellow police tape he pulls out his badge for the officer standing guard over the crime scene. A burly man comes up to greet him as he approaches the door to the abandoned building.
Hope you skipped breakfast this morning Kip, this one isn't for the faint of heart, lieutenant Owens informs him.
How could it be any worse than the last two? Kip asks blankly already knowing the answer.
The lieutenant orders everyone out of the building for a few minutes so detective Haskins can take a look around. Upon entering the stench of rotting food filled the air. Off to the left was bed with chains for both ankles and wrists. Ten feet away is a small refrigerator unit that appears to be unplugged and the source of the smell.
Kip approached the body which is covered with a black tarp. Removing the tarp he takes a step back at the shock of what he is seeing. The body is still in a sitting position, hands tied firmly behind the back. The girl appeared to be in her early 20's. Just like most of the others in the last year.
Examining the body he sees a hole burned through the girls chest. Steam still slowly escaping from the cooling of the metal that sunk into her chest. Behind her is a pile of cooling metal that passed completely through her body. Looking at the contraption in front of him he sees what resembles something like test equipment.
How many does this make lieutenant? 5, 6? Is this even the same guy? Kip examines the device closely. No finger prints found, no residual DNA, not so much as a clue to who this person is. The lieutenant looks at him wondering if this is the case that sends him over the edge. His last psych evaluation wasn't exactly his best. There was a thin string holding this guy together. The lieutenant wasn't 100% sure what separated Kip from this psycho. They both were out of touch with reality.
