Today I decided to say what I’m thankful for. People always go with obligatory family, friends and health but I’ve decided to go a different route this year. Looking back at all the great posts I’ve seen and all the incredible artists, writers, poets, musicians, philosophers and photographers I’ve seen over the last two years, I thought it appropriate to recognize them and their efforts.
So today I am thankful for the many poets who share their feelings openly with us and the world, touching us all deeply. Without your incredibly crafted prose we would never have the opportunity to feel freely that which you make okay. So thank you for being brave for those who still hide behind potential. Perhaps your words will set them free one day.
Thank you to the artists who wield a pen, a pencil, a brush or even a spray can and paint masterpieces that transcend simple art and become a fixture in society. It’s you who help us all visualize that which we are too blind to see. Thank you for being the canvas of life it’s self.
Thank you to the writers who spin yarns and tell tales. Your words as much like paint in the way you help us visualize internally the world in which you write about. You allow us into your world for a visit and allow us to forget the ugliness around us for a while.
Thank you to the musicians of the world. No matter what kind of music you listen to there is always a band or a singer who’s sang a song about you or perhaps an entire soundtrack. Your music is often our escape when we most need it or perhaps the very sound we need to lift us off the ground at our worst.
Thank you to the philosophers who aren’t afraid to share their view of the world despite the fact that it differs drastically from our own. Perspective only matters when there is more than one, otherwise you’d be bored with always being right eventually.
To the photographers I say thank you for taking a picture that has the ability to transport us to the other side of the globe. A keen eye that snaps the perfect moment and shares that moment with us all. This simple act ensnares our curiosity about the world around us and fuels the desire to spread peace as quickly as hate seems to.
Lastly I’ll say I am thankful for the fire deep in my soul. That fire drives my passion to write and share, not for accolades but rather as a therapeutic outlet for soft sensibility and often times caged rage. I’m thankful for the many followers and friends I’ve made. Thank you all and a happy holiday this week.
