What looks like snow on this picture is in fact salt. It was at almost 108 degrees Fahrenheit, that's 42 Celsius. This is a part of the salt flats in the Ethiopian Danakil Depression, the hottest inhabited place on our planet. Like it has been done for thousands of years, they sill carve salt slabs out of the salt flats and carry them away on camels. Amazing thing to watch and I'm wondering how much longer this will be around, especially as more and more roads are being built in Ethiopia.
