The materials which I used for these, in total nineteen drawings are a rapidograph technical drawing pen with a line width of 0.5mm in three different standard colors (red.blue.black) and transparent paper rolled up, width of 91.4cm and length 50m.
This selection is based off the idea of minimizing the materials used, or to use the same/similar tools to develop a structure. From this point of view, I tried different ideas for developing more and more of a complexity of form, and an expansion of the inherent grammar. The concept is, simply, to avoid the appearance of repetitions and to generate a ‘vertical’ structure by movement within the lines. I tried to dice the use of the standard colors, the direction of the diagonal lines, the amount of connections to single squares, and the overlapping of different colored layers.
The initial format for most of the drawings is a 60 cm by 60 cm grid divided in 12 by 12 squares positioned at the center on the paper. The paper’s transparency allows for having this original shape below that of the others, comparable to the use of a light table, to draw the series up 'vertically’ based on this initial form.
