I am Adeib EM, an Arab-American photographer based out of Arizona and raised in the Middle East. My work focuses on spontaneous moments, vintage styling, and simple, striking colours to create impactful images (well I try anyway haha). Recent Collaborations include Vogue Arabia, American Eagle, I’ve been fortunate to see the intersection of many cultures, and hope to be able to highlight the unique nuances of other cultures through my photography. More of my work can be seen at Civitatestres.com
This is a series I started last summer basically talking about catcalling. These women are all Middle eastern with their normal day to day outfits. Every once in a while they'll get cat called and I kind of wanted to represent that interaction with a photo and a little quote on top of it. To people who dont read arabic this probably looks pretty, different and 'cute' but in reality they say the following: [this is paraphrased. Arabic is really hard to translate literally and also keep its intended meaning]
"Leave me alone"
"Mind your own"
"girl please, keep it to yourself"
This is what the catcaller sees. A pretty girl thats saying something its just they cant hear what this girl is saying almost like they dont understand.
