Nolan Fansler is 27 and a third generation self-taught painter making art for streets and homes in Los Angeles. His work is characterized by the fluid gestural line work of drawing with paint. Nolan paints abstract and expressive faces by squeezing acrylic paints from large tubes onto a surface with the gestural sensibility of a drawing. This process allows him to distill gestures into a characterized calligraphy composed of faces. His work plays between the boundaries of figuration and abstraction, where interpretation is most open.
