It has been 28 days since I posted -- hence the graphic. Apologies! I only seem to be able to do one thing at a time, and that thing is rarely...this.
However, this puts me in mind of a quick story. I went to visit my friend Martin in London in 2002, and one evening we went to see "28 Days Later." At the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square, if memory serves. Having just walked past Trafalgar Square, which you see so eloquently empty above. Now, this was freaky enough, walking through the setting of a horror movie directly before watching it, but this was also my first experience of fast zombies. I love horror movies, but I am the sort who gasps and, yes, occasionally screams -- even at a movie theatre.
Apparently this is forbidden behavior in the UK, because I have never seen a man more embarrassed than Martin was by my little yelps of fear -- or been given more dirty looks by strangers at the cinema, even when I once shouted at a man to "Shut the fuck up and let people enjoy something for a change!" (Which is another story, also true, and ends with me being escorted out by an usher.)
So basically my memory of this movie is less "Wow, what a terrifying and excellent film!" and more "I am a garbage human who humiliated another person beyond reason with my inability to remain calm." Cillian Murphy was fantastic, either way, though.
