Wow, I didn't think it had been NINE DAYS since I posted. I've just been very, very tired lately, and really limiting computer time.
One thing I love about Ello is that it's still pretty hard to use on my mobile phone. I can easily go a couple of days in a row without ever turning a proper computer on, so I don't always end up on Ello. I also don't get overwhelming social media dopamine cravings from Ello - the constant need to refresh. It feels so much...calmer. (Despite the drama I seem to have missed during my most recent absence, which I hope is resolved soon.)
I was very slow to adopt high speed internet. I was on dial-up long after most people thought it laughably old-fashioned. But it naturally limited my internet behavior. I got so much writing done back then! So I feel like Ello is a throwback to those "slower" internet days. I can do what I need to do, then pop back here when I'm done. It doesn't have the urgency of Twitter - that's for sure.
I appreciate that.
