Mumbai, India. Versova Beach.
I take a lot of pictures of children in India. In the beginning, they were the furthest thing from my mind when I began shooting #streetphotography because I was always on the look out for serious subjects. Over time the barriers I had began to come down one by one as I had to deal with the influx of children who always wanted to talk to the foreigner man, and maybe even get the chance to test out their English skills outside of the classroom. And I couldn't help but be in a better mood after showing a group of children the pictures. With this shot, a friend and I were being shadowed by a group of kids who were wanting their pictures taken. Instead of taking the same old, same old, I had them pose behind the tire, which the man in the background was shifting someplace else when we arrived. These days I don't get too upset when I'm being hounded by the many children I always encounter; I've adapted to the situation and merely try to creatively frame them when I can.
