The images show the brief story of a boat being filled with ice for transport across Vasai Creek, just north of #Mumbai. The ice was likely used either to keep fish cold at market or for any of the numerous ships actively fishing in the river or further out in the Arabian Sea.
Sometimes images have a life of their own too, if only for the photographer. I'll always remember this day because it was my first visit to Vasai Fort and the surrounding locale. I was meeting a couple friends and I shot the ice loading while waiting for them to arrive. While the fort itself wasn't of much interest to me, what I often discover are all the wonderful subjects who dwell in the fringelands (I know fringelands isn't really a recognized word but I've adopted it to describe a #streetphotography tactic, which is to always look on the perimeter of an attraction to find subjects). #fringelands
