I returned to Dhakuria Bridge and the railway colony below. Several hundred people make this spot their homes. Their ramshackle shelters border the train tracks dangerously close. They conduct many of their daily chores too nearby or directly on the tracks and must keep watch for frequent trains. This man was rinsing his mouth with water which was likely from a nearby street pump. Resources here are scarce, living conditions deplorable, and safety is a luxury as elusive as their hopes and dreams.
