#WhoIsPoker By far the most prolific and pandemic outbreak of #graffiti in #Mumbai is surely the mysterious "Poker" that one may see crudely drawn on walls ranging from Colaba well into the northern suburbs of Mumbai. No one I've spoken to has definitive answers as to who this individual is (the main perpetrator - not the occasional copycat Poker one may see) or as to the purpose of the word. The most common guess I've heard is that it's related to drug dealing. But this explanation doesn't consider the fact that calling attention to a drug deal is the last thing a dealer wants.
To visitors I've often quipped that Mumbai has its own Banksy, albeit a less talented version, to say the least. But for some reason I feel compelled to look for answers. Who is this guy? - yes, it's a man. One doesn't have to be a handwriting expert to determine this (although I may consult one for other clues). And why is he spray painting Poker all over the place? What does it mean? And what posses him to risk arrest to spray the same thing all over town?
Will the real Poker, please stand up?
