There is a community of methi farmers who illegally work the sands of South Versova Beach. Those of us strolling the beach would barely notice if not for the raised huts and other makeshift structures rising from the the upper part of the shore line. On closer examination, you will see the crops - the methi - a variety of fenugreek.
When I first started exploring the area I stayed clear of contacting the people. I thought maybe they would take offense if I were poking around and snapping pictures. Since then I have spoken with some of the people there and have even been invited inside one of their fishing shacks for a chat. And on this particular occasion, I encountered some boys playing in their monsoon pools, cooling off and having a great time in the heat of the afternoon. They were happy to pose, but I had to actually use my phone's camera to get a wide enough angle shot.
