"Waterfall Window" was shot in Kolkata. In the full uncropped version on my Flickr profile you can see me taking the shot in the window's reflection in the upper left. What struck me was that this little hole-in-the-wall and obscure Chinese restaurant actually took the time, money, and effort to build a waterfall into their store front window. This man was probably a waiter, waiting for customers who weren't bound to come during the afternoon hours. I suspect they made a lot of their profits from serving cheap drinks and weren't likely known for their oriental cuisine. I just simple love the bright yellow color, a combination of sunshine and I think tint of the glass. For me, it's the perfect marriage of street photography and a painting. Unfortunately, in recent trips to Kolkata I've come to learn that the restaurant is no longer there and has been replaced by a jeweler. The window doesn't look the same and the yellow shine is all but gone. Street photography as a historic document, right?
