Benoit Mandelbrot was a mathematician, and in my opinion, an artist. Fractals are everywhere. They are the base for life, the base for physics, both quantum and in general relativity. Fractals are the geometry of life, the creation of form, the matter of movement. Two of my favorite quotes by Dr. MandelBrot "A cloud is made of billows upon billows upon billows that look like clouds. As you come closer to a cloud you don't get something smooth, but irregularities at a smaller scale." And more simply "Nobody will deny that there is at least some roughness everywhere." I see fractals in everything. From the growth of tree branches, the veins in the leaves, the roots of grass, and the spiraling from a flower. The shape of a seashell, and even in things like the weather patterns, the oceanic currents. The nerves in our body branch out in fractalled patterns, the colors in our eyes, burst our in endlessly irregular, beautiful patterns. Fractals are infinite. Fractals are my religion. I am infinite, and I am a fractal, an endlessly flowering creation of beauty, and you are too.
