Tonight is the mid-season TV break for Outlander and I'm really excited to catch it. It's a 16 episode season (6 more episodes than Game of Thrones, for comparison sake) - the break in the season happens at ep 8 (tonight) and resumes in April 2015 for the rest of the 8 episodes.
Bought my copy of the shirt at TeeSpring the first week of the show and I couldn't be happier wearing it around. I get those knowing looks, "oh, I know what that means..."
I'll be honest, I try to keep a balanced frame of mind with the show and not be completely ga-ga over the obvious reasons, but I have to tell you that this show is real quality work. It may have a few issues here and there, but Starz and Ronald D Moore (cast, crew, and the rest) really know how to bring Diana Gabaldon's book's to life. Every time I tell myself not to fan squee, "it's just a TV show", it doesn't work. Each week they manage to impress me with one thing or another. I just adore the show and it's everything (so far) that I've been waiting for and hoping for from the moment I knew Starz picked up the show to convert it from the book.
Mike and I discuss the book on our Shelf Life Podcast show and even then, I try to be fair minded about it, but I don't think you can read 8 books written in Diana Gabaldon's fabulous words and the people that you come to know so well and just not love the world she's created. I DID have some trouble with the first book, Outlander, the first time I'd read it-- and I mention it in the podcast, but over the years I've come to wrap that first read-through in a soft fuzzy blanket and accept and forgive my gripes over it the first time. I think it's easy for long term fans to look at the entire series with love. When I first read it- I had no idea - at all- what was going to happen to Claire and I did emotionally fight for Frank until the story and the adventure won me over. So anyway...I wrote a huge post and didn't even mean to. I'm just passionate about the series.
My top 3 favorite episodes right now are:
#3 - Sassenach , the Pilot
#2 - The Wedding , ep 7
#1 - The Garrison Commander , ep 6
