"Teito" is the Iberian Northwestern name for a type of stone dwelling with a thatched straw or broom roof, found in western Asturias, especially in the Natural Park of Somiedo, Spain. These constructions can be found in the highland pastures (known as Brañas). This is a place where cattle was taken by the "vaquero" (traditional herdsmen) population during the summer months, usually in the mountainous inlands of West Asturias. "La Braña de Ponarcal", composed by 34 "teitos" is located at the top of the Pigüeña valley and is one of the best preserved examples one can see.
