Alberto and his story
Mr. Alberto is a 60 year old man with no parents, wife nor children. This kind man's life are his clients which became his friends and family a long time ago.
With all the new laws and burocracy, at the end of 2014 the government shut down, for lack of conditions, Baca Belha, the typical restaurant of our hometown (Vila Real, north of Portugal) that belongs to his family since 1900. Alberto tried to find a job after he realized he had no money to buy all the stuff he needed to reopen the place... The attempt was unsuccessful.
He started to have difficulties to buy food to put on his table and pay the bills and, when he got sick, he did not have enough money for medicine... He right now is in an extremely low condition, showering with cold water which must be extremely painful since we live in a city that reaches below zero degrees celsius in the winter!
When the local community (we) realized this situation, we started an imediate fundraising campaign across the city. However, we could not get the necessary amount to help Alberto and we still need a lot of money to change this man's life.
Apart from being his only source of income, this is a piece of culture from our region as you can check from the videos and photos exposed. People have met there for more than 100 years, and we do not want this to just die.
What We Need & What You Get
We need 2.500€ EUR to reopen the place. We are only students so our perks are not the best in the world, we know, but as a traditional portuguese saying tells: "who gives what he has, the more is not required" :)
We tried to understand and budget the costs for the reopening and tried always to lower the prices, looking for the cheapest products.
Application of the money:
250€ for water payment debts from Mr. Alberto's house and from Baca Belha;
500€ for energy and gas debts from Mr. Alberto's house and from Baca Belha;
100€ for paintings
450€ for repairs required by law: isolating walls, rebuild the bar counter, buy and place the wooden shelves ,...
750€ to buy a new stove, toaster and oven. The government considered that the actual ones were too old and had no conditions.
400€ for the new cash register required by law. Since 2015 that establishments had to buy a specific machine that records the sales and automatically prints the bill to make sure there is no tax leakage;
50€ to pay for the shipping of the mugs, because we do not have money to do it with our money :(
If we do not reach our goal, we will apply the amount we have on the primor changes and keep trying to collect money until we are able to reopen Baca Belha!
Please helps us change this man's life and give the next generation the opportunity to spend time in a very rich place... Culturally!
