For this series, I was heavily inspired by the subjects outfit and wanted to find a setting that would match well with this. I had first come up with the idea of Romeo & Juliet meets Versace; so I knew that this had to be somewhat Versace inspired as their clothing is always captured in a specific way. I initially wanted to shoot around an amphitheater/Roman baths with coliseums... but locations like that are super rare to find in Los Angeles. There was both the Hearst Castle and The Getty Villa that did happen to have both of what I was looking for, but its extremely hard to take pictures in these areas with lighting equipment, so I ended up scraping that location idea. I then thought about the idea of a grotto and some how using that and incorporating that... but the only grotto that was in LA had been destroyed a few years back. Pushing forward, I had always wanted to take pictures of some of the beautiful murals LA has to offer, so I had found this lovely mural in the heart of East Los Angeles and thought it was perfect. So the concept ended up highlighting a more rugged and masculine side to the subject; depicting him as the 'saint who sinned' as he is seen as the saint to then later be judged by a saint. In contrast he is then later seen in a more softer and purer light as he walks out of the church; showing a more timid creature who is mourning his alter state.
